Espresso start
Single O publishes a 20-gram input and 52-gram output for this edition. That is a longer ratio than a traditional 1:2 espresso and should emphasise clarity. If your basket is designed for a smaller dose, preserve the approximate ratio rather than overfilling it: for example, 18 grams in and about 47 grams out.
- Let the machine and portafilter warm fully.
- Dose consistently and distribute before tamping.
- Aim for the published ratio, changing grind to control flow.
- Taste warm and again as the cup cools before adjusting.
Filter start
For a first pour over, try 15 grams of coffee to 250 grams of water at roughly 93°C, finishing near three minutes. If the cup is sharp and thin, grind finer; if it is dry and heavy, grind coarser. Change one variable at a time.
Who it suits
This release is better matched to someone seeking an obvious fruit direction than a drinker wanting a dark, low-acidity traditional espresso. The all-method positioning also makes it useful for a household that wants to compare espresso and filter without opening two bags.
